Soulful Singer of Spring
The amazing thing about Prairie Warblers is they are pretty secretive. I always hear them sing their beautiful song but am lucky if I can catch a glimspe of this small warbler. Despite their name, they are not typically a bird of open prairies, but rather they nest mainly in young scrub areas and thick overgrown fields. They are found from mid to eastern US, from Georgia to Missouri, to the southern tip of Maine. In New Hampshire, they mainly breed in the southern part of the state. I followed the song with my camera and was able to capture a few shots. It did not stay in one place for long!
