  • WIldlife excites the heck out of me. I was pretty psyched to see a snowy for the first time in person and to have had the opportunity to photograph this moment. Observing wildlife is something that has always come natural to me, through my experience growing up learning about the local flora and fauna from my father, who was an environmental scientist and professor. I have the utmost respect for these birds, and all wildlife. When I was photographing this snowy, I kept low, quiet, and made slow movements. Unfortunately, the snow owls that were in this territory have moved on. Either from being overly disturbed by the locals or by other predatory birds. Snowy owls travel south from the Arctic tundra in the winter time search of food, depending on the availability of prey, they can travel far distances south of the Canadian border. They are day-time hunters and are active from dawn to dusk. They will return to the arctic in the spring before their breeding season starts in the summer. © Christie Wrazen 2018, Seacoast NH, tripod-mounted.
