I was in Franconia Notch one summer day on a whim with my partner in crime looking for a new hiking spot. The trails in this area are terribly busy in the summer time so we wanted to find a place a little less crowded. We came across Lonesome Lake trail and decided to try it. The trail length didn't seem long, however, the trail goes literally uphill the entire way. Once we climbed to the top, the scenery was mesmerizing. This small lake tucked up high in elevation, surrounded by marshland and mountain views. We took the trail loop all around the lake. We spotted some birds, including sparrows and a woodpecker. Almost all the way around the lake we came across some unique plants and mushrooms.
