Great Blue Gliding at Beaver Brook
I was at a beaver pond on a spring day where I had spotted a Canadian geese family with goslings and a Hooded Merganser female and ducklings. I was sitting at the edge of the pond when I noticed a Great Blue Heron walking on a small island over towards my direction. I sat hidden behind a tree waiting for the heron to come closer. A Red-Winged Blackbird was dive bombing the heron. I assumed it had a nest there and was trying to deter the heron away. Just as the heron was almost in frame, it had enough of the Red-Winged Blackbird and flew off the island and landed on a nearby beaver dam.
